Six Flags Magic Mountain: Taking Xtreme to the Next Level

Anja Brydum
May, 2008

Six Flags Magic Mountain is certainly not a stranger to the extreme.  And this spring, the world's leading thrill park unveils an impressive new twist on its most popular, state-of-the-art coaster, X.  Yes, the world's first 4th dimensional thrill ride is once again pushing all limits and taking extreme to the next level.  Say hello to X2 and welcome the 5th dimension.

Xtreme to the 2nd Power
So what does X2 equate to?  Here in SoCal, it means some serious new action for thrill seekers.  Like completely redesigned, sleeker trains.  And all-new, innovative, visual, audio and sensory effects.  When it opened in 2002, the original X was ahead of its time with 360° rotating seats and head-first, face-down drops.  But even the bravest riders won't be prepared for this adrenaline-pumping redesign.

Interdimensional Travel
What's it like traveling into the 5th dimension?  Unlike traditional coasters where trains only parallel the track, X sends you screaming around its 3,600-foot maze of steel aboard massive wing-shaped trains.  The seats extend off to the sides of the vehicle, allowing them to independently rotate you head over heels, forward and backward, creating a one-of-a-kind "don't know what to expect next" sensation.  As if that wasn't intense enough,
launches the extreme into a new dimension with the addition of a unique tunnel and light experience that changes with every ride.  The next evolution of thrill rides is officially here.  So how about checking out ?  One of 14 coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain, SoCal's leader in thrills.

All Aboard! Thomas Town
Spring is in the air.  And at Six Flags, that means the grand opening of Thomas Town featuring Thomas and Friends. Designed to entertain children of all ages, Thomas Town centers around a train ride on a Thomas the Tank Engine replica that transports kids and their families on a journey through Thomas' home on the Island of Sodor.  Plus keep your eyes peeled for more attractions, a Thomas and Friends store, and Sir Topham Hatt himself, the Controller of the Railway.  More than just a thrill park, with the addition of Thomas Town, Six Flags Magic Mountain now includes over 30 rides and attractions for children and their families to enjoy together.

Six Flags Magic Mountain is located at 26101 Magic Mountain Pkwy., Valencia.  For more information, call 661-255-4111 or visit www.sixflags.com.
