African Wild Dogs at LA Zoo
Daily.  LA Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Griffith Park.  5333 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles.  Roaming a newly renovated habitat at the LA Zoo is a pair of colorful and cunning African wild dogs.  These creatures, native to the vast and beautiful sub-Saharan Africa, are making the LA Zoo their home for the first time in nearly 40 years.  323-644-4200.  www.lazoo.org.

Pasadena Chalk Festival
