Good Eats

Anja Brydum

Pop quiz.  You’re cruising LA.  You’re famished.  And you’re totally lost.  What do you do?  Rely on this quick pick list of locals’ favorite eateries, and you’ll always know exactly where to go to get your grub on.

WESTSIDE
Coral Tree Café
11645 San Vicente Boulevard, Brentwood
310-979-TREE   www.coraltreecafe.net
This upscale (yet affordable) joint is a delicious choice when you’re on the west side.  A sip of their Organic Jasmine Pearls tea is like drinking liquid sunshine.  And keep your eyes peeled.  You just might run into the likes of Paris Hilton – we did the last time we stopped in for a bite.

LOS FELIZ
Fred 62
1850 N. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles
323-667-0062   www.fred62.com
Eat now.  Dine later.  This retro-kitsch diner and local landmark serves up awesome eats 24/7/365.  The pun-filled menu features local faves like the Thai Cobb Salad, the No Animal Burger, and the Punk Tart.  Plus, don't forget to check out the best-kept secret in Los Feliz: the Red Velvet Cake topped with cream-cheese frosting.  We order ours with a scoop of ice creams.  Sorry, but we're salivating just thinking about it.

DOWNTOWN
Pinkberry
332A E. 2nd Street, Los Angeles
213-621-7645  www.pinkberry.com
If you've been in LA for at least five minutes, you've probably picked up on the Pinkberry hype.  Delicious swirls of slightly tart Original, Green Tea and Coffee yogurt.  Toppings from fresh strawberries, mangoes and kiwis, to chocolate chips, mochi, and Cap'n Crunch cereal.  Though there are a zillion locations throughout the LA area, do yourself a favor and discover this particular gem.  Because the staff here features some of the friendliest faces in town and the yogurt is absolutely to die for.
